Once you have created your video, it’s time to upload your video to YouTube. Simply click the small video icon on the top-right of YouTube. Then, click ‘Upload Video.’


2. Set Up Your Advertising Campaign

Now you’re ready to set up your YouTube ad campaign

Head over to your Google Ads account, click “All campaigns” in the left-hand sidebar, then click the large blue “+” icon to create a new campaign.

You will then be taken to a window where you’ll need to select the campaign type - ‘video’. 

Then, you will need to select a single goal that corresponds to what you want your campaign to achieve for your business, for example: leads, website traffic, product and brand consideration & brand awareness and reach. 

3. Configure Your Campaign

Now it’s time to configure your campaign by selecting a number of options such as the video name, budget and location. 

Choose your name that clearly describes your campaign (for internal use). This will help you to easily identify the campaign when you start running multiple campaigns in Google Ads.

Set the average amount of money you want to spend each day. You can also choose the standard or accelerated delivery method - standard will spread your budget throughout the day, whereas accelerated will show your ads at every available opportunity. 

You can also select the country and language you want your ad to appear in.

4. Choose Your Demographic 

This step allows you to define who you want to reach by options such as their age, gender, and parental status, etc.

5. Choose The Content That You Want Your Ads To Appear On 

Next, you can refine your ad visibility by selecting where you want your ads to show via  target keywords and topics. You can use the “Get keyword ideas” tool to find related keywords to target.

6. Select Your Video Format

Finally, you need to select your preferred video format.

Different Types Of YouTube Ads 

There are several key types of video ads in which you can invest on YouTube, including: Video Discovery Ads, TrueView In-Stream Ads and Non Skippable In-Stream Ads. 

Video Discovery Ads

Video discovery YouTube ads place your brand, product or service alongside YouTube content that is likely to be viewed by your audience.

TrueView In-Stream Ads 

TrueView ads are the standard YouTube video ad format that plays before someone watches the video they've selected. These ads can be between 12 seconds and 6 minutes in length and give the viewer an option to skip the ad after watching it for five seconds. 

Advertisers only pay when a user watches the ad for at least 30 seconds or until the end of the video or if the viewer clicks on a call-to-action. 

Non-Skippable In-Stream Ads

Non-skippable ads are short in-stream video ads that play before, during, or after a YouTube video that’s 10 minutes or longer.  Viewers don't have the option to skip your ad. With videos between 6 and 15 seconds, non-skippable ads allow you to reach viewers with your entire message.
